IGC Data Assistant
Salary is competitive and not less than £16.39 per hour inclusive of London allowance. Role available to part-time or full-time applicants.
Accountable to: IGC Business Systems and Data Officer
The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. We are a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, we are majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). We work to improve the productivity of people and firms as the key driver of sustainable economic development.
The IGC is currently undertaking a data audit and requires the assistance of a short-term Data Assistant to help complete this exercise over the next 3-6 months. This will require activities focused on identifying and filling data gaps, including the following specific tasks.
As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out planned data entry tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Locating relevant data and files and carrying out research to fill information gaps.
- Collating core project information, including project and output documentation.
- Checking data accuracy according to guidelines.
- Working with existing information and databases and ensuring data consistency across projects.
- Collaborating with different teams and individuals across the organisation to ensure accuracy of data.
- Carrying out tasks as directed by Business Systems and Data Officer.
The key skills required include:
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstration of good judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Understanding of data management principles, including data consistency and accuracy checks.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and use critical thinking skills to solve data problems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong IT and administrative skills.
- Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Previous experience with CRM systems and/or working with large databases (not essential).
- Excellent written English skills.

IGC (Senior) Country Economist - Jordan
Senior Country Economist or Country Economist. Salary from £50,000 gross per annum commensurate with experience, plus 10% retirement contribution supplement.
The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. We generate new evidence and innovative new ideas to improve the productivity of people and firms, as the key driver of sustainable economic development, and to support our government partners in transitioning to low-carbon growth pathways and protecting vulnerable populations. The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, we are majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The IGC is currently seeking a Senior Country Economist or Country Economist dependent on experience and skills to be based in Amman.
Senior Country Economists lead on establishing relationships with key stakeholders and work closely with the leadership team to shape and implement the country strategy. Additional responsibilities include leading on project generation, facilitating cross-country learning and conducting research. The team supports researchers in implementing research projects and identifying opportunities for policy engagement; manages country programme activities and generates reports on research and policy developments; contributes to the ongoing evaluation of the programme; supports the dissemination of research outputs to maximise policy impact; and works on IGC research projects where opportunities arise. The country leadership team includes a Country Director, a Senior Advisor, and Lead Academic and the team also includes a Junior Programme Officer. Country Economists work with the country leadership team in developing and implementing the country strategy, identifying opportunities for policy influence, connecting researchers with policy makers and supporting the generation of research projects, and undertaking economic analysis and writing policy briefs.
Applicants should have strong economics skills, excellent quantitative skills in economic analysis, a sophisticated understanding of economic policy, and hold a post-graduate degree in economics, public policy, or a related discipline. Successful applicants will be dynamic self-starters with excellent written and oral communication skills. They will also demonstrate a team-oriented, respectful and collaborative approach to working with others. Fluency in Arabic is desirable. If not fluent, postholders should be learning Arabic. IGC Programme Coordinator
Salary from £35,758 to £40,741 pro-rata, with potential to progress to £43,604. Full-time, open-ended, subject to funding.
The International Growth Centre (IGC) aims to promote sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research. The IGC directs a global network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams in Africa and South Asia and works closely with partner governments to generate high-quality research and policy advice on key growth challenges.
IGC Programme Coordinators play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the IGC. They manage project proposals from approval through to contract and then monitor these against agreed work plans. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the London Hub and internationally-based IGC colleagues and proactively engaging to bring efficiencies to a range of processes in the hub.
Candidates should have:
- Project management experience
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels
- Experience in implementing, monitoring, and improving processes
The position will be based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London and will be offered on a full time, open ended subject to funding basis. Starting salary will be £35,758 with progression in role. Exceptional candidates may start further up the salary band.

IGC Head of International Compliance
12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover).
Salary from £52,806 to £60,705 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £67,357 pa inclusive of London allowance.

The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and in-country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, we are majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office with support from other global funders. We work to improve the productivity of people and firms as the key driver of sustainable economic development.
Based centrally within the LSE and with close working relationships within IGC, the post holder will take overall responsibility within the School for monitoring, managing and meeting all compliance related requirements related to the IGC’s international activities and related registered LSE overseas branch entities. They will work closely with IGC senior management team, in-country teams and central LSE teams, and manage external consultants that advise and support LSE with international compliance requirements. The post holder will lead on risk and security for the IGC, specifically its overseas activities. The role reports to the Head of LSE Legal in the LSE Secretary Division, with a matrix reporting line to the IGC Finance Director.
The successful applicant will have:
- An understanding of the main provisions of UK corporate compliance, governance and regulation and experience of applying this in the context of relevant overseas jurisdictions.
- Knowledge and experience of registering and ongoing legal maintenance of overseas entities.
- Experience of working with internal and external compliance and governance regulations, internal policies and processes (e.g. financial regulations, ethics, bribery and fraud) in complex and matrixed organisations, and a demonstratable ability to apply this to operations in overseas jurisdictions.
- Experience of working in a compliance-related role in an international not-for-profit organisation.
- Basic understanding of corporate financial documents such as company reports, financial accounts.
- Experience of managing a virtual team to deliver timely outputs.
The position will be based in the IGC head office located within the LSE in central London, and is a fixed term contract for maternity cover for a period of 12 months.
