Muhammad Omar Masud

Mohammad Omar Masud currently serves as Secretary Industries Department, Government of the Punjab, as well as  Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Unit. He has been leading the Urban Unit since June 2020.At the Urban Unit, he oversees a multidisciplinary team of more than 250 professionals engaged in diverse aspects of urbanisation, providing policy advice and technical support to multiple tiers of government across Pakistan. His current work focuses on harnessing urban data as a strategic tool for informed policymaking and effective action at city, local, and regional levels.

Mohammad Omar Masud holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology  (MIT), USA. He also has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs
