The Ministry of Finance and National Planning, the International Growth Centre (IGC), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will convene the 2nd Zambia Economic Growth Forum (EGF) on 21st and 22nd February 2024 in Lusaka.
Launched by His Excellency the President of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema in 2022, the EGF brings together leaders from government, the private sector, development partners, and the research community to discuss pathways to achieving sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Zambia.
In its second edition, the conversation explores pathways to:
- Achieve macroeconomic stability.
- Unlock the mining sector for growth.
- Improve agricultural productivity, especially in relation to climate adaptation.
- Use data for better evidence-based policy decisions.
- Deliver better local governance.
- Position Zambia to benefit from the global energy transition.

Speakers and delegates include senior policymakers, academics, and practitioners from Zambia and abroad, including Honourable Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane (Minister of Finance and National Planning), Mr Felix Nkulukusa (Secretary to the Treasury, Zambia), Dr Mercedes Vera Martin (IMF's Mission Chief for Zambia), Sir Paul Collier (Professor, University of Oxford), Eric Lautier (IMF’s Resident Representative for Zambia), Dr Robin Burgess (Professor, LSE), Dr Namrata Kala (Associate Professor, MIT), Dr Katherine Casey (Professor, Stanford University), and Dr Herrick Mpuku (Executive Director of ZIPAR).
