Rwanda

IGC Rwanda provides demand-led, frontier research to support sustainable and inclusive growth in Rwanda. Our research focuses on domestic market integration into regional and global value chains, public sector effectiveness, and the response of the Rwandan economy to climate change.

About

Rwanda has experienced impressive growth over recent years, led by an ambitious goal to reach middle-income status by 2035. Achieving this goal will require overcoming key challenges, by increasing private sector investment, creating jobs, improving technology, and building resilience to external and climate shocks.

IGC Rwanda is dedicated to fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth through evidence-based research and policy analysis in close collaboration with our partners from the Rwandan government. Our research agenda is aligned with Rwanda’s medium and long-term growth strategies. Our focus areas include public expenditure efficiency and domestic resource mobilisation, domestic value chain development and export growth, firm and farm productivity improvement, labour market development with a focus on job creation and skills enhancement, urban challenges including waste management and affordable housing, and expansion of renewable energy sources.

Cross-cutting through all our work is the impact of climate change, improving resilience and fostering green growth. As such, sustainability is a fundamental principle woven into every aspect of our policy and research initiatives.
